Traditional Orchard Planting Management
Creative Nature UK Ltd specialises in the planting and management of traditional orchard species as part of improvements to local biodiversity.
We can also plan and implement the incorporation of traditional style orchards into habitat improvements for conservation projects providing
a food source for all of us.
Traditional orchards provide a vital habitat for wildlife with their rich and diverse species of apples, pears, plums, cherries and nuts. Many are surrounded by hedgerows which provide
valuable shelter and corridors, as well as food, for wildlife.
Orchards can occur on a wide range of soil types and situations requiring specialist equipment to deal with different levels and
may well have ponds or wetland features for watering livestock.
Because trees in traditional orchards often decay quickly, they provide crevice and hollow nesting sites for birds such as spotted flycatchers and can provide roosts for bats. The bark itself
supports many fungi, moss and lichen species.
